It’s only rock ‘n roll

The Rolling Stones, known as ‘the greatest touring band of all time’ have sold an estimated 250 million records and in the UK, have eight number one singles and twelve chart-topping albums, so it seems only right that they should be the next music stars to be celebrated on British stamps. Mick and co. follow in the footsteps of bands The Beatles, who were featured on stamps in 2007, Pink Floyd (2016), and Queen (2020).

The approach to these rock gods is similar to that of appeared on a stamp as part of the ‘Classic Album Covers’ set in 2010) reflecting the band’s seemingly never-ending world tour, which may now have finally come to an end following the sad passing of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021.
