Why we shouldn’t point the finger at pigeons

I WAS concerned to read the article entitled “Let’s be a front-foot fancy” (Cage & Aviary Birds, January 26) in relation to short-faced fancy pigeons. Firstly because it is ill-founded and secondly it appears to have been published without any opportunity having been given for the views expounded therein to be discredited by the correct facts.
Neither breed depicted in the article is a short-faced breed, the white barb being a wattle and the Oriental frill an owl and postcards shown here (right), which depict those two breeds in the early 1900s.
