LACK OF VISION? We need to watch our birds’ eyes

WHEN I kept Gloster canaries, well over 50 years ago, they were small, lively little birds, and a delight to keep. Their crests were relatively small and their eyes were bright and clear. I suppose that the canaries which are nearest in appearance to them, today, are the diminutive German Rhinelanders, except that Glosters had a much more inclusive and comprehensive colour scheme than does the little German bird.
