Review: Waldorf M
Waldorf stays true to its line and once again names a synthesizer after a character from the adventures of James Bond. In this case, „M“ stands not only for the head of the secret service MI6, but also for the first letter of the Microwave, because Waldorf M is the successor to these legendary synthesizers, with which the Waldorf company celebrated its first successes at the end of the 80s. In this respect, the new model could well have been christened Microwave 3.
The legendary red button
The hybrid synthesizer features eight voices based on digital wavetable oscillators and an analog low pass filter. The robust metal housing corresponds to the Kyra and Iridium from the same company, but this time is designed in the chic dark blue of the old Microwave. A loving reminiscence of the external identifying feature, the bright red alpha dial, can also be found on the M, namely twice in the form of the somewhat more discreet red-metallic Wave knobs.
