It’s time to come out of the dark
Thermal-imaging kit has had a huge impact on after-dark airgun shooting over the past couple of years. Being able to spot a pest’s heat signature, even when it is partially obscured by undergrowth, is a serious advantage and even shooters who use a lamp or infrared sight are starting to carry thermal imagers for spotting elusive nocturnal quarry.
There are still the naysayers who claim the use of high-tech thermal gear is unsporting, but I expect they have never been tasked with carrying out serious pest control jobs for landowners who want to see significant results. When farmers find their buildings crawling with rats or their fields overrun with rabbits, they want the problem dealt with quickly and effectively, and thermal optics can really score when it comes to achieving that end.
