According to Statista, in 2019 the number of international tourists visiting the US reached nearly 80 million, continuing a rising trend which lasted for more than a decade. Travel and tourism spending by domestic and international visitors combined accounted for over $1.1 trillion of the nation’s GDP in 2019, supporting millions of jobs. Then came COVID-19.
