Straight from the pre-credits sells itself as a horror-comedy. Unfortunately, scares are not on offer and it quickly runs out of laughs. As the mismatched staff at a corporate toy shop fend off a shopping onslaught turned monstrous rampage on the most hellish shopping day of the year, the film trudges through a formulaic cast picking-off, an insipid script and gloomily shot, unfocused action. Devon Sawa offers a lone spark of vivacity among a mostly wooden main cast, while Michael Jai White is fun but underused, and Bruce Campbell’s jaded manager somehow needs more ham.
