This directorial debut). It’s set in Anmaere, a post-apocalyptic world where people from the city Whithren hope to travel alongside an annual shipment of horses to Levithen to make better lives for themselves. There’s much to admire, not least the committed performances, but this lyrical sci-fi tale is dreamy to the point of befuddling. There’s no denying how gorgeous it all is, yet it ultimately rings rather hollow.
