If Fellini and Truffaut could make multi-film memoirs about their artistic lives, why shouldn’t a female British director (2019) smuggled a fragile portrait of the artist as a young film student into an ‘80s-set romantic tragedy. This delicate if occasionally overinvolved sequel finds the bereaved and reeling Julie (Honor Swinton Byrne) rockily exploring that doomed love in her graduation film.
