here’s only one thing more stressful than being the person left on board (PLOB?!), and that’s being the MOB. With your lifejacket inflated, mobility, peripheral vision and hearing are all compromised and, despite the buoyancy of the lifejacket, your head is only just above the water. After half an hour of testing in the water, Theo was cold, even in a drysuit and in relatively warm water (16°C). Don’t overestimate a conscious casualty’s ability to help
