Karl Breu was a young Austrian born at Dubnany, Moravia, in 1884. Although his parents were said to be normal, Karl was born an albino, notable in later life for his frizzy white hair, pink and red eyes, and very pale skin. After both his parents had died while he was a boy, he was separated from his (non-albino) sister Lori and brought up by his mother’s family in the town of Lenora, South Bohemia.
