Find distant relations who emigrated
This is my last column, so I’m leaving you with a personal story designed to fuel future research into your own tree. It’s tempting to focus on your direct ancestors – grandparents, great-grandparents and so on – but like me you may find fascinating characters in more distant branches of your tree.
