MANY people see birds as brightly coloured animals, wearing coats of rainbow colours. And while this is true for the most part, it is inevitable that among the 11,000 or so species there will be a substantial number which are, want for a better word, drably coloured. But they are not drab for no reason. Many of them are using their coloration for camouflage.
