HYMER FIAT

German maker Eriba started its bodybuilding business near Bad Wadsee, Germany, in 1923. Alfons Hymer worked there as a wheelwright and coachbuilder but always wanted to be self-employed. When eventually this happened his son, Erwin, joined him in 1956. Working in part of the Bachem premises and working closely with Erich Bachem they developed the Ure-Troll in 1957.

In 1958 the two started serial production of the now famous Eriba touring caravans. The brand of Hymer motorhomes came in 1972 and they were the first to offer a six-year guarantee against rainwater leaks. Now over 60 years old, the Eriba-Hymer brand has gathered something of a cult following worldwide. Near the factory is the vast Eriba-Hymer Museum where many
