■ Viking of Norway Nordlys, 75% wool/ 25% nylon, 100g/350m per ball, one ball in 977 (Yarn A)

■ 50cm (19¾") length of any 4-ply yarn (Yarn B)

■ Four 3mm (UK 11, US 2/3) double pointed knitting needles, or one 3mm (UK 11, US 2/3) 80cm (31½") circular knitting needle or two 3mm (UK 11, US 2/3) 40cm (16") circular knitting needles

■ Two stitch markers

■ Yarn needle

TENSION

Approx. 28 sts and 36 rows in stocking stitch to measure 10cm (4")

ABBREVIATIONS (UK)

 st(s) stitch(es) dpn double pointed needles k knit p purl stocking stitch – every round knit knit the next 2 sts together slip 2sts onto the right-hand needle, place the left-hand needle through the front loops of these 2 sts and knit them together purl next 2 sts together right side
