DESPITE the best efforts of old mate Omicron, Street Machine Summernats 34 went off like a frog in the proverbial. After the disappointment of having the event postponed for the first time in history in 2021, the built-up excitement of being in Canberra doing street car things with our street car friends was palpable.

There were plenty of nerves around though, with COVID cutting a swath through the ranks. On the Street Machine crew, we lost editor Broadley, scribblers Iain Kelly and Glenn Torrens, social guru Paul Cronin and burnout video ace Peter Flint for virus-related reasons of one kind or another. And most of our merch team!

Owen Webb also lost five members of his Summernats judging team, including Tuff Street guru Mark
