Art director says the aesthetic has been inspired by a blend of ’70s French cinema and ’90s anime, with characters animated in stop-motion. “There are almost no textures in the game,” he says. “We use a combination of low-poly 3D modelling and vertex painting.” This movie-poster-inspired key art, meanwhile, comes courtesy of Korean artist Yejin Park, who has captured the game’s blend of the dreamlike and the mundane.
