The first day of 2022 saw Thailand lift the AFF Suzuki Cup, the ten-team biennial tournament held in Singapore, to return to the top of Southeast Asian football. This 13th edition, taking place 25 years after the first one in1996, should have taken place in 2020, but it was worth the wait for fans in this football-loving region of 650 million.
