Portraits with character

ometimes I pause to consider why I like some types of painting and am indifferent to others, and conclude that it is only the visual aspects that I respond to. Historical, religious and social references leave me underwhelmed, but I am excited by the play of light and the technique that can capture this. I am a watercolour painter (although I wish I had become an oil painter too), and think the medium is well suited
