Pöttinger Aerosem VT5000 DD combination: On its own wheels

Up until now, Pöttinger’s Aerosem power harrow combi was only sold as a fully mounted machine. Not so much of an issue on a rigid machine, but, once you start going to wider hydraulic folding models, it becomes a whole other ball game, with axle load limitations quickly reached once you start to romp up to road speeds. And then there’s the issue of carrying all of that weight when things turn wet.

So, it makes sense to have the power harrow drill combination a semi-mounted unit with its own running gear. Pöttinger’s solution is called the Aerosem VT5000 DD — V stands for vertical folding, T for trailed, 5000 refers to the 5.00m working width and DD the Dual Disc coulters.

Old and new

Rather than reinvent the wheel, Pöttinger has opted to utilise several proven components on the new VT, such as:

● The power harrow is● The metering unit can also handle fertiliser, hence the sealed hopper.● IDS distribution head is located behind the hopper. Section control will be offered on production machines.● Dual Disc is the name given to the rubber-mounted double-disc coulters.
