DIGGING FOR BRITAIN

BBC Two

Tuesday 4 January, 8pm (TBC)

If you’re tempted to think that there cannot possibly be any major archaeological sites left to discover in Britain, Prof Alice Roberts would surely disagree. That’s because, since 2010, the anatomist and biological anthropologist has presented Digging for Britain, a series that each year eavesdrops on some of the country’s major digs.

In great part, the programme’s ongoing success isdoesn’t just capture the day-to-day grind of archaeological work – it captures those moments when what’s found changes our ideas about the past.
