Riding the eco-wave

What inspired you to launch Salt Gypsy? How did you transform it from a blog to the brand it is today?

Salt Gypsy began life as my personal blog in 2012 while I worked as a surf guide in the Maldives. I had two goals for the blog: 1) to connect with other like-minded female surfers doing interesting things and 2) to showcase cool indie women’s surf labels that had started a few years earlier. At that time, there was little to zero support for independent labels from mainstream surf media and industry, yet there was a whole market of women, myself included, who didn’t want to purchase from mainstream brands or wear logo-driven products.
