YUMA KAGIYAMA SIGHTS SET ON OLYMPIC PODIUM

It has been a rapid rise to the top for Japan’s Yuma Kagiyama.

In the 2018-2019 season, his first on the junior circuit, Kagiyama did not qualify for the Junior Grand Prix Final nor did he make the cut for the World Junior Championships.

The following season he won his first Junior Grand Prix assignment, finished second at the next and was fourth at the Junior Final in Torino, Italy.

A month later, the rising Japanese star won the Youth Olympic Games, defeating the two Russian skaters who had placed ahead of him in Italy — Andrei Mozalev and Daniil Samsonov.
