Dynaudio Confidence 20

■ Standmount speakers

■ £9000

When a company as serious as Dynaudio claims that the new Confidence 20 are the best standmounters it can make, we can’t help but take notice. Given the general excellence of the brand’s efforts, that’s quite some statement. But then again, these Confidence 20 are quite some speakers.

They are a ground-up new design with cutting-edge drive units, a clever composite front baffle and a smart integrated stand that comes as part of the package. They certainly look like a carefully considered proposition. These are the smallest model in the company’s flagship Confidence range, which also includes three pricier floorstanders topping out at £35,000 for the imposing Confidence 60 towers.

FINE ENGINEERING

As would be expected at this level, Dynaudio hasn’t held back when it comes to engineering. The new Esotar3 soft-dome tweeter is claimed to be the company’s finest to date.
