Sandown Racecourse, Surrey

A WET, miserable winter’s afternoon at Sandown was lit up by the runaway victory of Nicky Henderson’s Constitution Hill in the Unibet Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.

The five-year-old by Blue Bresil, owned by Michael Buckley who’s been in the game for coming up 50 years, cruised through the race, took Nico de Boinville to the front at the second-last and hardly came off the bridle to beat Jetoile, winner of his last two starts, by 12 lengths.

On the back of the performance, he supplanted his stablemate Jonbon in some lists as the favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham.
