Florida’s expansive metalcore survivors keep their eyes on the prize

Having embraced extreme metal, emo, post-metal and industrial across an intrepid and intelligent discography, the band rarely miss the mark whatever new target they’ve chosen to embrace. Even their venture into the middle-of-the-road rock on 2018’s Erase Me was still marked by the band’s characteristic audacity.

, their second album since a brief hiatus, sees the Floridan collective at a crossroad. There’s the fearless desire to expand their sound and is an example of the former, kicking down the doors with its pugnacious hardcore bite and an abrasive air of confidence. While (featuring Ghostemane) and dial back on the heaviness, the synths and solid hooks take centre stage, with choruses that demand attention and fists held up.
