A FINE SELECTION

Underpinning our showroom design is a broader set of values around sustainability, materiality, storytelling and community that’s core to our DNA. One of our customers described our showroom as a destination for experiences, and that’s exactly the thinking and why I love what I do. Our signature style is An impossible question! Each and every piece we showcase has a story, relationship and value – both physically and emotionally. I am increasingly mindful of my choices. The old adage, choose well and love it always, is one I subscribe to. We have three pillars that guide our selection process: visceral, intellectual and ethical. All our pieces, whether they’re sourced locally or from around the globe, stimulate intrigue on a multi-faceted level. It’s a rendition of beauty for us beyond aesthetics to encompass greater substance and soul. Everything the world needs more of. The Plastic Rivers collection of rugs by Álvaro Catalán de Ocón in collaboration with GAN, or his PET lamp pendants, which are all made from recycled plastic. The exquisite pertinence of his stories and the wonderful products he attaches to each, is pure genius. As well, everything by Lucy Kurrien – a rising star in the furniture design industry and leading the way in a field mostly dominated by men. Her trajectory has been startling and her pieces never cease to cut just the right note. I dress and live in a very relaxed manner. Eschewing trends, I buy what’s moving me, and that always comes back to quality. Quality in the craft, in the visual, and in the story of who designed and made the piece. I have nowhere I could choose over another. The joy of travel and exploring the new is endless. Right now, I’m excitedly planning a trip to a restored in Puglia, Italy, co-owned in a remarkable twist of fate by fellow Sydneysider Peter Lewis of Porter’s Paints. The delicate and intensely elegant scent of Australian beeswax. Burning a beeswax candle is said to be a natural ioniser – purifying the air, all while leaving a light, natural honey scent, evocative of the local bush. Our Melbourne showroom opens this year. With a community we love based there, this moment can’t come soon enough. It’s exciting times, so watch this space.
