SPLASHING OUT

When Covid clipped everyone’s wings in early 2020 this family had a total rethink of their priorities. Realising that overseas travel would be off the agenda for some time they decided to create a holiday lifestyle for themselves. So they sold their expansive home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and bought a 70s apartment perched above the sands of Bondi Beach.

An iconic location and spectacular views were the drawcard, and the unrenovated apartment offered the scope to make it their own. Shiva and Arun Mohan had seen interior designer Greg and were impressed by his bold and individual approach. “They wanted beachy but not a classic coastal look,” says Greg, “and, while there was a brief, they were fantastic clients who trusted me and let me express my creativity.” The home had to accommodate the couple’s three children and dog, and function as an entertainer as well as a place to relax. “We love entertaining and we get so much joy from cooking and sharing good food and wine with friends and family,” says Shiva.
