‘Magic moments’

WE gave motor-racing aficionados a taste of another kind of horsepower when we opened the Members’ Meeting at Goodwood, West Sussex, one morning during autumn trail-hunting.

Plaited and polished, a couple of dozen horses and several couple of hounds from the Chiddingfold, Leconfield and Cowdray hacked up the start/finish straight of the motor-racing circuit to be greeted by the Duke of Richmond and his staff with platters of sausage rolls and glasses of port.

Everyone behaved impeccably – although stiff-bristled brooms were required to clean up afterwards (even the Duke took a hand) – and, after trotting up
