MAKING A COMEBACK

Will 2022 be the year that the international art world reconvenes for major events? Many are counting on it, especially in Europe and North America. The first headline event will be the 59th Venice Biennale—delayed by one year, “The Milk of Dreams” is curated by Cecilia Alemani and will run from April 23 until November 27, 2022.

National pavilions and collateral exhibitions are already. Korea will feature multimedia artist and electronic musician ; , another artist-musician, is creating Australia’s presentation. In the Arsenale, Turkey will highlight sculptor ; the United Arab Emirates is looking back at a pioneering outsider artist, ; while Singapore draws attention to the research-based practice of . Pasifika, Asian, and Fa’afafine photographer and performer will represent New Zealand, and the Philippines will present painter , who is collaborating with musicologist Felicidad Prudente and weaver Sammy Buhle. Around the island-city, the Hong Kong Pavilion will house the speculative-gothic works of . A newcomer to the festival, will showcase five artists from three generations.
