SANTANA SPIRIT

It would be difficult to imagine any artist who has had a more profound impact on the course of popular music than Carlos Santana. A transformative guitarist, composer and innovative, he played a major role in the introduction of Latin music into the American musical mainstream. The song would go on to spend 12 weeks at No. 1. In 2016, he reunited with the seminal members of his original Santana band — Gregg Rolie, Michael Carabello, Michael Shrieve and Neal Schon — and released Santana IV, a belated reunion that reestablished the group’s erstwhile early legacy.

Santana’s currently touting a new album, tellingly titled , an especially ambitious effort that reunites him with Thomas in addition to connecting him with any

Bernie Taupin
Bernie Taupin has a way with words, but you already knew that. Elton John has famously acknowledged that there would be no songs, no Elton John, if it weren’t for the words that came first. But Taupin’s way with words far transcends his lyrics. Scatt
