Returning with the top honours

Having had a very quiet and frankly depressing season in 2020, I was absolutely thrilled to attend the 2021 International Gundog League (IGL) Retriever Society Championship. This event is the pinnacle of the retriever trialling calendar, and this year it was held at the Ampton Estate in Suffolk by kind permission of the Rushbrook and Turner families.

The Ampton Estate is no stranger to hosting this prestigious event and is a great supporter of gundog field trials, offering many different clubs a ground to compete on every year. This is the fourth championship to be held at Ampton after hosting it in 1988, 2006 and 2016. Headkeeper Alan Hammond works tirelessly to ensure there is plenty of game,
