And as the borders bolted shut, a vast majority of West Aussies were itching for things to do within the confines of “Bubble-u-A”.

IT was a tenuous start to 2021 for WA wine producers…the Wooroloo bushfires, Cyclone Seroja, heavy summer rains, severe labour shortages, and of course, the impending threat of Covid 19 – which seemingly shapeshifted from one minute to the next - had the industry preparing for tougher times ahead.

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom according to Wines of Western Australia chief executive Larry Jorgensen.

“Actually, the industry fared much better than everyone thought,” he said.
