One Flew East, One Flew West

Traveling once again for a major hamfest was a refreshing change and Pacificon was my first destination. The QRP and kit-building parts of the convention did not disappoint. Doug Hendricks, KI6DS, organized the pre-convention kit-build on the Sputnik-40 receiver kit (see last month’s column) and judged the build quality of those who brought them.

The winner by far of the receiver beauty contest was Kazu Terasaki, AG6NS, who used a CAD program and his 3D printer to produce a very nice custom case for the Sputnik 40 ( and ). Kazu was kind enough to post the 3D.
