Inflammation of the eyelid, such as blepharitis, can cause the openings of the tiny oil glands present along the edge of the eyelid to become blocked, producing a fluid-filled cyst called a chalazion (also called a Meibomian cyst). A chalazion is a common condition usually felt as a small lump just under the inner surface of the eyelid.
