WATERPROOF RUN JACKETS

When winter sets in and brings with it more adverse weather, layering is vital, and a key part of that system is a waterproof running jacket. Not only will it fend off the weather on your training runs, but it’ll also help keep event organisers happy if you’re planning to take part in any long-distance running events.

So just what exactly should you be looking for in a waterproof running jacket? First and foremost, it needs to keep the weather at bay. Water resistance is normally taken care of by a waterproof membrane and a durable water repellent (DWR) coating. The latter is what’s responsible for rain beading up on a fabric’s surface, and it needs to be topped up periodically.
