China’s national flag flew at half-mast in front of a darkly-dressed crowd as the country held its eighth national memorial ceremony for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre on December 13.

Despite the winter chill, thousands of people attended the ceremony in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, with white flowers on their lapels conveying their condolences.
