For most fans of Tolkien’s literary masterwork there exists two moments in time: the period before Peter Jackson’s epic movie trilogy graced the silver screen, and the period after. All three movies were considered a cinematic triumph upon release, affectionately breathing life into the world of Middleearth unlike other adaptations had previously been able. The Fellowship Of The Ring, The Two Towers and The Return Of The King all did justice to one simple hobbit’s journey to ensure good triumphed over evil. Jackson’s vision has gone on to influence a whole gamut of high-fantasy fiction in the two decades since. It was only a matter of time, therefore, until The Lord Of The Rings made the jump to videogames. But imagine trying to do so before a single frame had been filmed.
