If you have watched the From Bedrooms To Billions series on the origins of computer games in the UK, you’ll already be aware of Nicola and Anthony Caulfield’s great work. They’re now back with a new Kickstarter called The Rubber Keyed Wonder: 40 Years Of The ZX Spectrum, a documentary dedicated to the popular 8-bit computer. We spoke to them to find out more.

Why are you celebrating 40 years of the ZX Spectrum?

The release of the ZX Spectrum was a key moment for the computing and videogame industries. When it was released in 1982 it cost just £125, making it a viable purchasing option for most families came out we’d been working on a Commodore 64 film for some time, but had always planned to do something dedicated to the ZX Spectrum. When Sir Clive Sinclair passed away, we felt a compulsion to not let the 40th anniversary of the ZX Spectrum pass without us doing something.
