THE END OF the year typically reflects a quiet couple of months before the beginning of the next breeding season, with most of my efforts focussed on having a good deep clean of anything and everything.

I generally do this in stages over this period, primarily as I’m not sure I could face a mountain of cleaning in one go, but also, I don’t have enough space or equipment to do this in one hit. So, bite-sized chunks works best. Also, this staggers the cleaning, which helps set the pace for adhoc cleans during the year ahead.
