ZEBBIES: as popular as ever

ALTHOUGH I have kept zebra finches for 60 years, I still am finding out new things about this amazing finch.

A recent TV programme showed an experiment. When a coloured nest-box, for example painted pink, was placed in the breeding cage, the zebra finches would use only pink nest material provided! Even though six other colours were available, only the colour of the nest-box determined what colour material would be used. This was re-enacted in six other colours and with different pairs.

As we tend to use wood-coloured plastic continue to show amazing new facts about this gregarious bird.
