CHRISTMAS DAY

FACTUAL: THE REPAIR SHOP CHRISTMAS SPECIAL (TVNZ 1, 7.00pm). What is Christmas but a time to heal. And what is repairing old treasures but a form of healing. First in to see Jay Blades and the Repair Shop team are brothers Glenn and Andrew with that symbol of simpler decades: a Raleigh Chopper. It’s battered and rusty, its once-gleaming chrome corroded – but bringing it back to life will rekindle the spirit of a special Christmas morning in the 1970s. The crew also breathe life back into a battered harmonium once used to accompany family Christmas carols, a threadbare teddy from the 1940s and an iconic 60s train set.
