New Zealand rocks, Northland rocks

New Zealand has some remarkable geology – think Moeraki boulders and Punakaiki rocks. Northland’s best geological offering must be the Wairere Boulders. We visited them during Labour weekend.

Auckland was shut down and the locals were staying home so it was unexpectedly quiet. There were a few cars in the carpark, but we saw no one, such is the expanse of the site. There wasn’t even anyone to take our money. So we slotted our entry fee into the honesty box ($15 for adults, $10 for students and gold card holders, $5 for kids) and picked up a map.
