he quest of Don Milne (left) to tell the stories of the more than 400,000 Americans who fell in, , and , they have completed the stories of all 2,502 who fell at Normandy on D-Day and are on track to complete the 2,335 stories of those killed at Pearl Harbor by December 7. Arlington National Cemetery has provided a list of the 7,700 World War II fallen buried there, and Milne’s team project—Stories Behind the Stars—hopes to have their narratives written up by Memorial Day 2022. A smartphone app that allows readers to check out the stories at gravesites and memorials was set to go live on December 1. Still, the work is daunting: they have 408,000 mini-biographies to go.
