Viking wins reprieve and orders with the new 90

The regulations aiming to curb emissions from all yachts with a load line length of more than 24 meters threatened the sportfishing sector and, more specifically, boats such as Viking Yachts’ successful 92. Fitting a bulky Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system and storing urea inside the engine room of yachts of this size can create other problems (among them, making boats heavier and less efficient, to say nothing of urea not being readily available in marinas). Pat Healey, Viking’s CEO, said they’d have to stop building the 92 (which would potentially cost many jobs).
