CADDIES AT MACUNGIE
After being forced to cancel Das Awkscht Fescht in 2020, it’s no surprise that organizers saw a notably positive attitude during this year’s event.
“Everybody was really happy to be here,” said Matt Manwiller, AACA Ontelaunee Region Chairman for the Macungie, Pa., show. “Everybody was really cooperative and cordial. It’s just been really good… There’s concern about what’s going to happen here going forward in the next couple of months or even next year, but right now, everybody’s super-excited to get out.”
The show drew about 300 vehicles on Friday and about 800 each day on both Saturday and Sunday. Among them were more than 100 examples of Cadillac, the feature car. AACA Museum Curator Stan Sipko coordinated the Cadillac component and said that, while 12 additional Cadillacs were displayed in the feature car tent, the response among Cadillac owners was such that he could have filled several more tents.
“Since my father was president of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club Upper Susquehanna Region for 12 years,” he said, “I knew a lot of people with Cadillacs … My father was in it for so long, we got to know everybody, (but) even people we didn’t know were phenomenal as far as getting cars in here.”
