TOO old to be conscripted, Aldin kept the South Berks going as sole master and, as did so many of his ilk,). Both were purchased by the Imperial War Museum, where they still reside. After the Armistice, the sadness remained, but with the resumption of his West Country sojourns, staghunting with the Devon & Somerset, and the liveliness of his grandchildren, his spirits revived. In , he barely mentions the sadder times, refusing to quench his pleasure in life.
