A lucky few may have managed to seek refuge on board during the pandemic, but with hotels shut for long periods and an ever-changing raft of restrictions and protocols the travel landscape has looked dramatically different for everyone over the past 18 months. However, with restrictions easing and a bumper fleet of yachts assembled in the Caribbean for the winter season, it seems that travel is back with a vengeance.

The pause has created some positive outcomes. The luxury hospitality industry has been given the time to revamp, rejuvenate and create new ways to entertain and inspire guests. In turn there is a renewed enthusiasm for immersive experiences, with travellers becoming increasingly conscious of how they treat themselves and the places that they visit. Sustainable menus and programmes such as Coral restoration are appearing across the globe - as you’ll discover in this year’s Hot List - as voyagers look to preserve the places that have been sorely missed during this period.

There also seems to be a newfound desire to push the envelope; be that by finally ticking off that bucket-list destination or having that once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounter. Either way, an army of experts are ready and waiting to make your wildest adventure dreams come true.

Charter… a superyacht with an ecological outlook

Delivered in summer 2021, 38-metre explorer yacht Emocean is the first project to emerge from the Italian shipyard Rosetti Superyachts, but she isn’t Rosetti’s first foray into shipbuilding. The company is best known for the construction of ocean-going supply vessels, which it has been building now for almost a century.

Emocean, however, is an industry innovator with an impressive array of environmentally friendly credentials. Penned by BurdissoCapponi Yachts & Design, her interiors are fitted out with either biodegradable products or those made from recycled ocean plastic, such as rugs and sofa fabrics. There will be no plastic bottles on board thanks to her Blupura water system providing cold, hot, still or sparkling mineral water from the tap. There will also be no leathers or fur in sight, as nothing of animal origin is allowed on board (the only exception being that Emocean is a dog-friendly yacht).

Despite her eco-credentials, still has all the trappings of traditional superyacht luxury. There is a striking central staircase with a three-storey sculpture illuminated by a skylight on board, as well as an interplay of white lacquer and light and dark woods throughout.
