In today’s online world, a large proportion of news and information is consumed on computers and mobile devices, with social media allowing journalists and the general public to comment on current affairs within a few seconds of a story breaking. Yet newspapers still play a vital role in the dissemination of information and many consumers prefer the familiar feel of paper, allowing them to consume the information in a different, perhaps more detailed and measured way.

Whatever the future holds for newspapers, the theme makes for a rewarding topic for a stamp collection, allowing the collector to represent many different publications from around the world, highlight notable journalists, and recall significant moments in our history, which were often dramatically described on the front pages of national newspapers.
