HOME TOWN BASS
There’s no need to travel to remote rivers to find good bass; some of the best fishing is right in town!
Recent Covid restrictions put a halt to my most anticipated spring bass trips, so I spent a lot of time fishing close to home. I was fortunate that my local government area (LGA) is a bass stronghold and I had the ability to chase one of my favourite fish within my allowed region.
Bass remain prolific in many regional urban areas because as well as being a hardy and resilient creature. In fact, as long as you fish within the distributional range of bass, I’d think you should be able to enjoy success in most freshwater sections of the majority of our East Coast rivers.
Historically, towns were located along these rivers because waterways were the main mode of transport before rail and roads were built. Further, many of these towns were/are adjacent to deeper water that provided access for larger vessels, be they steam or sail.
